A Coconut Candle Making Experience

Coconut candle making is a fun activity to do while visiting the West Coast of Puerto Rico. Perfect to take home as a souvenir or make it as a gift for family or friends. This hands-on experience teaches you how to use all-natural, 100% vegan soy, coconut and/or bees wax and essential oils to make a candle. We will use coconuts grown on our family finca. You’ll get to choose from over 30 different fragrances. We’ll teach you how to measure ingredients, how to add essential oils, how to add color to your wax and more. At the end of the class, you will take home your own scented candle to enjoy. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced crafter, this experience is perfect for anyone who enjoys creating with their hands and wants to learn the art of candle making. Come join us for a fun and informative experience and take the first step towards becoming a skilled candle maker. Kids 13+ are welcome to join.
How it works
You'll find yourself atop our rooftop terrace overlooking the ocean of Puerto Rico's West Coast. We take care of all the candle making supplies and small bites. We will use our locally grown coconut shells to make one-of-a-kind candles! All you must do, is arrive ready to have some fun. It's a stress-free and setup/cleanup -free candle making experience for a maximum of 9 guests. Please inquire about private group experiences. Our goal is for you to walk away not only having learned a new artistic skill or two, but to have had a memorable experience here at The Lair. Pair our experience with your favorite beverage (BYO), unleash the inner creative and put the wax in the coconut. We don't expect you to be the next Johanna Gains, but we can guarantee a scented gem with lots of laughter during our 2 hours together. Group photo at the end to keep the memory. Whether you join us for a Paint n' Sip, Neon Nights, ukeLAILR, candLAIR or want to reserve a private event for our Brunch n' Brush at The Lair, our vision is to connect people through the wonders of creating while making lifelong memories.

A candle making party! You can expect a laid-back, fun environment along with simple/basic instructions (nothing to be intimidated by). Using locally grown coconuts, wax, colors scents, dried flower and more; you’ll create a one-of-a-kind candle to enjoy after the experience.
Absolutely! Whether it’s for a birthday, holiday, bachelorette party or just a Monday, our private parties are the perfect opportunity to celebrate with your friends in a private setting with us taking care of all the details!
GENERAL
We focus on fun art, not fine art. We are a relaxing, beginner-friendly candle making experience where I (Monika) will guide you through the process and encourage you to release your inner creative. With BYO options, you choose the pace of your night on our relaxing yet fun outdoor patio with ocean views. With all candle making materials provided, just arrive with your own drinks and let’s see what happens. Experiences will run for 2 hours, so get comfortable!
The price per experience includes everything you’ll need to create your coconut candle (except whatever alcohol you’ll be drinking). You’ll have all the necessary equipment provided, including:
- Locally grown coconut shell
- Wax (can be coconut, soy, bees)
- Over 30 different fragrances
- Tools (i.e., tweezers, tray, scissors)
- Dyes for coloring wax
- Dried flowers and seaglass
- Cups for your drinks & wine opener
- Small bites and table setting
All Lair experiences include guidance from me (Monika) to assist you in releasing your inner creative. The only thing you’ll need to bring is your favorite bottle of vino, and your imagination.
All participants in The Lairs public events must be 13 and over.
EXPERIENCES
We recommend arriving at The Lair 10 minutes before the experience begins as to give you plenty of time to get comfortable, set up, and get the wines flowing. The running time is 2 hrs.
Of course, these things happen! Please don’t feel you need to panic call us 100 times, I (Monika) will be busy being the hostess with the mostess and would have started to provide the group my full attention. To ensure the experience isn’t interrupted, please just arrive when you can, and we will catch you up in a break.
We will always do our best to ensure that groups are placed together.
If you and your friends are booking separately, it’s best to message us and indicate you are participating together.
If you have any other special requests, please tell us the details upon booking! We want everyone to have the best experience possible.
We like to keep our arty parties fun and exciting. Whether you choose to dress up, make your experience a theme, or just attend for a date night on the weekend we expect you to wear what feels comfortable. As our experience does involve wax and dyes (shocking! I hope I mentioned this earlier) we do encourage you to not wear anything you would be disappointed if wax or dyes ended up on, or couldn’t be dry cleaned. We will provide you with aprons to wear during the experience to minimize any accidental wax or dye mistakes.
The Lair Paint n’ Sip, Neon Nights and Brunch n’ Brush, ukeLAIR and candLAIR are BYO only! We don’t sell any alcoholic drinks at The Lair, so it’s important to remember to bring your favorite bottle with you! If you do happen to forget – we’ll be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
We are a bring your own (BYO), but this doesn’t mean we aren’t responsible servers of alcohol (RSA). We are an inclusive, safe environment and non-alcoholic or alcohol options are welcomed unless advised in the experience’s description. So, bring your naughty water of choice; wine, seltzers, bubbles, beer, and pre-mixed drinks – but leave the Rum and Vodka at home.
Yes! We do provide snacks for all attending. However, we encourage everyone to have a little food to eat while they paint and sip!
Yes, our events all have an ice cooler on the deck to keep drinks cold! We also have cups too so no need to bring plastic cups!
In the rare event that a public experience is cancelled, you will be notified app or text message no later than 24 hours prior to their experience scheduled start time. You will be offered a reschedule to another upcoming experience or a refund.
PRIVATE EXPERIENCES
Of course, you can! The Lair hosts private events/experiences of all types: birthdays, bridal showers, anniversaries, team building, “just because”, etc. We can create bespoke events outside of these to suit your request.
We don’t want you to miss out on the fun. You can join our public sessions with your group and still celebrate!
Private experience deposits are non-refundable. In the event you need to reschedule your private experience, the deposit can be transferred to an alternate date that is suitable to yourself and The Lair.
If the full amount has been paid & there is more than 2 weeks before the experience date, we can reschedule your private experience to another date that is suitable for yourself & also The Lair.
We are unable to refund or reschedule private functions within the 2 weeks before your session date. The full amount will be forfeited. We hope this never has to happen.
Payments & Bookings
You will receive confirmation of payment and experience date. Then wait in excited anticipation for the date to arrive!
We understand that sometimes life gets in the way, which is why we’re happy to cancel or reschedule. (50% refundable for cancelations made 48 hours prior to event. No refunds within 48 hours)
Important: We are very strict on ‘no shows’. If you don’t show up for the experience, you are unable to receive; a refund, reschedule or provide credit for a missed experience.
Private Experiences deposits are non-refundable.
If the full amount has been paid and there is more than 2 weeks before the experience date, we can reschedule your private experience to another date that is suitable for yourself & also The Lair.
We are unable to refund or reschedule private experiences within the 2 weeks before your experience date. The full amount will be forfeited. We hope this never has to happen.
Absolutely! We provide certificates for any amount of guest up to 9 which can be used for any upcoming public experiences. Gift Certificates are non-refundable.
We don’t provide physical Gift Certificate, but a gift certificate can be emailed to the purchaser. All gift certificates are valid for 1 year from time of purchase.
